SCHEDULE

Day 01 - Santiago de Chile

Arrival at Santiago, a modern metropolis in an emerging country which has a historical area from the colonial period. During the city tour there is a visit to the historical and to the modern part of Santiago. The best view of Santiago and the Andes is enjoyed from Cerro San Cristobal before going by Providencia to an upscale area with exclusive shops, restaurants and buildings.

Day 02 - Santiago - San Pedro - Museum - Moon Valley

Flight to Calama (in the North of Chile). From the airport, ride to San Pedro de Atacama Desert. Then you stroll around the town, its old church with cactus wood roof and the Plaza de Armas. At dusk you will visit the famous Valle de la Luna (Moon Valley) in the West of the salt mountains. Strange rock and salt formations surrounded by bare sand landscape and with the Licancabur volcano in the background, give you the impression of being on the moon.

Day 03 - Quitor - Salar de Atacama

There is a half day excursion to the traces of the Atacameños who built the fortress Pucara de Quitor in the 12th Century, afterwards taken over by the Incas to finish in Spanish hands in 1540. Then you will visit the salar de Atacama, a salt lake of gigantic proportions (3000km2). This is the home of many kinds of flamingos and other birds who feed on micro-organisms of the lagoons. Part of the National Reserve is the Laguna Chaxa where these species can be observed in the wild.

Day 04 - Tatio geysers

The one who wants to experience the Tatio geysers in action must get up very early to enjoy the fountains rise up to 10m high with the first sun light. The geyser field 4300m high, gives a unique spectacle when the sun melts the ice cover and touches the sibilant fountains shining in many colours contrasting with the steam columns. The excursion starts very early and ends at midday also in San Pedro.

Day 05 - San Pedro - Puerto Varas

Transfer to Calama airport to fly to the Lake District via Santiago, in the morning. After arrival to the city of Puerto Montt, there is a city tour visiting a fish and craft market. Then there is a drive to Puerto Varas with informative sightseeing. This is a picturesque town on the huge Llanquihue Lake with snow-capped volcanoes as background.

Day 06 - Salto de Petrohue - Todos los Santos Lake - Osorno Volcano

After breakfast there is a full-day excursion to the surroundings of Puerto Varas driving along the Llanquihue Lake while enjoying the Osorno and Calbuco volcanoes. The first stop is the “Saltos de Petrohue”, a collection of rapids and waterfalls dancing where the Petrohue river has washed the lava rocks into impressive formations. At the Petrohue pier there is a boat voyage along the Lago Todos los Santos, surrounded by forests. Then there is a drive up to the Osorno from where the view is unforgettable. Return to Puerto Varas in the afternoon.

Day 07 - Puerto Varas - Puerto Natales

Transfer to Puerto Montt airport and flight to Punta Arenas where, in a regular public bus, you will be driven to Puerto Natales through the Patagonian steppe. When arriving at the bus terminal, a private transfer takes you to the hotel to an overnight stay.

Day 08 & 09 - Torres del Paine - Puerto Natales

Two-day early drive tour in Torres del Paine National Park. You will enjoy magnificent views of the Torres massif, the Lago Grey and the Grey glacier. The rich flora and fauna is known through short walks. You will know Salto Grande and spend the night of day 8 at an hosteria at the edge of the Park and return to Puerto Natales the night of day 9. Overnight and transfer to bus terminal in Puerto Natales to take a regular bus trip to El Calafate.

Day 10 - El Calafate

El Calafate is like an oasis where willows and poplars have been planted giving it its green appearance in the middle of a barren landscape. It doesn´t have sights of itself but its location, being the start point to the Glaciers National Park, makes it important.

Day 11 - El Calafate

Full day excursion to the Perito Moreno Glacier. You will notice a barren, flat and dry landscape when setting off from El Calafate on an 80km journey through the Patagonian steppe to the entrance of the park at the foot of the Andes where mountains covered with green vegetation make the landscape totally different. Enjoy the guide´s explanations until you reach the main attraction, the breathtaking Perito Moreno Glacier. Not only is it not declining but its wall of ice of 60 to 80m high, with a marvellous deep blue compressed ice colour with bizarre-shaped ice towers, has a unique colossal appearance. It is well-known for its repetitive calving ice.

Day 12 - El Calafate - Ushuaia

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for a flight to Ushuaia – In the afternoon there is a tour to the National Park Tierra del Fuego (with moors, mountain ranges, rivers, a rocky seashore and a beech forest).

Day 13 - Ushuaia

This day you will enjoy a 2,5hours boat tour along the Beagle Channel. Leaving the port of Ushuaia with good weather, you can appreciate the city, mount Olivia and the glacier Le Martial. Sea lions and Cormorants act naturally despite the proximity of the vessel. After sailing through islands such as Les Ecleraires with its typical lighthouse, return to Ushuaia

Day 14 - Ushuaia - Buenos Aires

Flight from Ushuaia to Buenos Aires, the vibrant and attractive capital of Argentina.

Day 15 - Buenos Aires

Discover the highlights of the “Paris” of South America. From Plaza de Mayo surrounded by the Government House, the Cathedral and the Cabildo, there is a tour to San Telmo (the Tango district) and then to La Boca famous for its colorful houses made of sheet metal. It is here where the oldest port is located. Italian immigrants arrived many years ago and an Italian-born population still inhabit this area. Finally, the northern region is visited. La Recoleta has wide avenues and wonderful parks which give a complete different landscape to the previous neighbourhoods visited. There is an optional Tango show in the evening. Tango is a passionate, erotic and powerful dance where the “Latin machismo” is showed.

Day 16 - Buenos Aires - Europe

Transfer to the International Airport of Buenos Aires (Ezeiza).
